Habits, Quilting and Plans

On the habit front, my commitment to eat better and actually cook daily is still in force - for about a week now. I’ve been following a meal plan online, and I mostly like it. There was one lunch suggestion that is a hard pass. I don’t like salads with raw brussel sprouts and kale and they don’t much like me. I’ve been walking an hour or so daily- usually as fast as I can. (this way I can double dip into the cardio check box). I’ve also been pretty faithful to the old person/osteo weight training program. And lo and behold, I’ve lost about 3 pounds. Who would have thunk it.

I know I spoke of the upcoming Shetland Wool Week that I’m attending this fall. Not sure if I mentioned that the best part of it is 1-it’s a week 2-There are loads of activities, as in field trips. Obviously not everyone can attend every thing. The process goes like this; at some point in June you become a member of Shetland Wool Week. This gives you entry into the SWW Opening Ceremonies, a copy of the picture they will take of us in our new aal owier toories, (hats lol), and I think a pin. Then sometime in July (it was Tuesday last !!!!) They email you the programme guide (noticed how i spelled that).

There are over 300 things!!! Registering for classes sounds like getting tickets for Taylor Swift. I have to log onto a portal at 9AM on 7/9. I am only allowed to put a certain number of tickets per event and total into my cart at a time, I have to check out within 20 min of the first cart activity. Then repeat. and repeat. In order to do this, my cohorts and myself will need to each creat wish lists, then compare for commonalities. Which are priorities? Which do we have no possible way to get to (as they are all over the islands).

Here is my problem, and obviously this is emblematic of my life, how do I say YES!!! to everything and still have down time to enjoy it? A dear friend said this week

but the things we do will be glorious

Of course she is right and I am holding fast with that. Though my wish list is long. I shouldn’t even show you - don’t sign up for my stuff!

We have until next Wednesday early to hash it out. I’ve already changed a thing or two.

Quilting !!! I told you that I was going to go to the quilt shop this week to learn on their longarm (a 24” harp!!!!!) and then rent it to quilt one of my tops. I did this yesterday! It was SO much fun. I believe that all my frustrations and attempts at home along with my silly quilt doodles helped a ton! I thought that I was going to be there ALL sticking day, but no! I started at 10 and I was out the door at 2:45! for a twin sized quilt that I put 82,000 (!) stitches into. I only broke the thread once!

Now onto trimming it up and binding. Then I’ll have one done :)

I am going to call later to get on her calendar for another. If I can do twin sized quilts in 3 hours, then I’m not sure if there is much point in even looking at machines with super big harps.

I am still going to give the cutie a good try- I’m just not super enthused. And I’m WAY happy that I didn’t pay full price for it.

Today I’m going to day-knit, and go to the grocery.

Have a great day!
